NEW IDEAS AND CONCEPTS IN FLASH INDUSTRY- 3/11/13-3/18/13

New ways of seeing and interpretation are being brought by Jared Ficklin. It's interesting how this device that he creates can allow a reality to be shared as a collective. You can see each action and movement that's recorded and it's reading images than words.

This link was interesting because it really explains the term, interactive choreography. Interactive choreography is teaching 3D space to people through virtual movement such as via Kinect. I love the drawing tool where using the Kinect stick, you can create your own art. It maps out your body and movement in 3D space which is seen by people dancing projected on the screen, moving from tile to tile which is shows your corresponding location on the same tile board on the screen, and trying to match the same position for the wall game. This makes the 3D space be flexible and intuitive which makes sense since our thinking isn't always linear, abstract, and visual.

This link made me think it's important to do just what you love. The passion and creativity that these artists have are ideas that have been thought of creating different realities or creating reality that mimics our interaction with our world entirely. I remember watching a Ted Talk in Sumit's interactivity class where you can use your phone to find the ingredients of an item without needing the help of someone to scan, but having you're own personal scanner. I like the idea of having another copy of you in another place in the world or creating a space where the computer is a person and having that intimate and real-time conversation. I like the idea of creating another world entirely that you don't have to immerse yourself in; rather it'll just be as if you're living as you're living on planet Earth. This makes me think that we're interacting with space and environments from just pointing and touching to actually making it malleable where it fits and responds to our voice, body, and senses.

MAKE WORK EXCITING, HAVE PASSION, THINK OF CHILDHOOD WHEN YOU DREW WITHOUT A CARE IN THE WORLD AND MOST HAPPY, WHAT DEFINES YOU? ( I love detail, abstract thinker, think more of ideas better and more confident and most work go into: pre-production, designing: have more fun when I don't think of deadlines, can make mistakes, not assignment, etc. take more time to do work than a fast worker, get zoned in)

BEING DIFFERENT AND SAYING YOU'RE DIFFERENT IS JUST NOT ENOUGH TODAY, DIVULGE INTO WHAT'S NOT MAINSTREAM AND BE YOU.

Technology is being an extension of our human body-we can record our moments what we see, share it and bridge with people that can share in our experience simultaneously, being mulit-tasker: e.g. research while creating, learning while doing.

More information and direction for 3D printing. Love that you can take your abstract idea and make it physical and concrete and that's tangible; that can be used as a way to sample and showcase 3D objects.

3/18/13                  ROBERT HODGIN

I like the simplicity of his work and just this artist's determination and spirit to use Flash in an entirely different way. I liked that he learned new things and the transition process for coding. Here are some more details in his journey in Flash.
